Hair Stylist

Overview

To be responsible for providing professional hair dressing, hair colour and hair treatments in accordance with established procedures and standards; must possess a thorough knowledge of haircut and blow-dry services, keratin smoothing, formal styles for events, and any other services you are trained for, braid and weave hair, bleach, dye, and hair tinting services such as (Highlights, balayage, root beer, baby lights, etc)

To be the link between the members and the spa; to oversee the client’s needs during his stay and provides personal service in assisting the spa needs of the guest. To be responsible for gathering preferences and information so the members recognition is ensured for his next spa visit; to be responsible for maintaining high standards of the facility when fulfilling his/her duties; to keep a critical eye on spa cleanliness and have a thorough knowledge on the functioning of spa features, equipment and therapies.

Job Responsibilities:

• To be aware of the department's performance relating to Quality.
• To be aware of the cost savings that can be made and implement as agreed. Respect usage of operating supplies to the guidelines given withing standard operating procedures.
• To be aware of the financial position and targets.
• Colleagues will be expected to reach personal assigned targets for retail and treatments. If failure to reach these targets after consistent training, disciplinary action will take place.
Conditions of Work:
Flexibility in working hours. Presence needed mostly in the Spa and to liaise with external parties (other departments) to promote the Spa. As per local labour law, 48 hours per week plus one hour break per day. This will be divided into number of working days depending on the business demand. All overtime will be returned in Lieu.
Spa Operating hours vary across each site, 7 days a week.
• To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and nametag and always follow good hygiene habits. Make- up is a requirement for female stylists and hair to be well maintained.
• To have a full working knowledge and ability to perform all duties and tasks listed in his/her job description. Please note that Job description can be reviewed and changed on a regular basis reflecting change in trends, guest expectations and operating philosophies, consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Provide consistent service in accordance with spa and treatment protocols, with attention to detail.
• Advise guests of spa service programs, treatments and products available at the spa.
• Inspects treatment area at the start of the shift and before each treatment to ensure that the set-up of treatment area is in accordance with established standards and to ensure that there is adequate supply of guest amenities, towels, other supplies.
• Monitor and maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Checks and replenishes amenities of the spa area at the start, end and if necessary, during her/his shift.
• Perform opening and closing procedures according to the shift.
• Checks the condition of spa facility and equipment’s and reports any damage immediately to Spa Manager or Spa Supervisor.
• Executes the standard of the Spa in the set-up of amenities and decor. Distributes to the different areas their linen, towel and amenities needed in their perspective services.
• Explains to the guest the benefit and procedures of the treatments. Gives product knowledge of its active ingredients. • Applies treatment procedures/products in accordance with established measurements and time frame.
• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
• Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
• Support to inspect the overall spa area especially the lounge, waiting and locker area at the start, during and at the end of shift to ensure that the set-up of the department is in accordance with established standard Inspects the whole spa area at the start, during and at the end of shift to ensure that the set-up of the department is in accordance with established standard.
• Monitor and maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Anticipates client’s needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all clients, however busy and whatever time of day. Always maintain positive staff and clients’ relations.
• Coordinates with spa receptionist on client’s spa bookings.
• To be attentive to all actions of the clients in the areas of responsibility and ensure the rules and regulations of the area are followed.
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered.
• During treatment, sees to it that all necessary details are given sufficient attention, to ensure a comforting and relaxing session for the guest.
• After each treatment, collects used towels, cleans up the treatment area, and ensure complete set-up ready for the next appointment/session.
• For VIP service appointment, ensures all materials and supplies are prepared for treatment.
• Gives lifestyle information to the guest in how to follow up the treatment back home or with an additional spa treatment.
• Sells additional spa treatments.
• Ensures the closure of all Spa equipment’s and proper storage.
• Does inventory of products locate at the storage and stations.
• Serve as catalyst to promote spa services to Members and outside Guests.

Experiences & Qualifications

• High school graduate
• Good English language skills
• Current state hair stylist license, or certification for an accredited school.
• Colour specialist.
• Hair extension qualification (desirable)
• Minimum 5 years of previous experience as hair stylist in a professional beauty salon or Spa.
